"The fox is here on earth and that friendship must last, otherwise it is meaningless, but now the fox makes him realize that at the same time he has an obligation to the rose. He should have not concluded that he has to go back to his rose; He should have fallen into a conflict because now he has a friend on both planets. But it does not even occur to him that through the fox he has got into a conflict!
Life itself is a conflict because it always means the collision of two tendencies. That is what makes up life, but the realization escapes the little prince completely or he escapes the realization. It is one more of those little, but fatal, turns in the story which points toward the tragic end."

"A donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster (or hen), all past their prime years in life and usefulness on their respective farms, were soon to be discarded or mistreated by their masters. One by one, they leave their homes and set out together. They decide to go to Bremen, known for its freedom, to live without owners and become musicians there ("Something better than death we can find anywhere")."
